![]() You see him as the rich kid, I see him as the one who see's the big picture, who's willing to take the morally gray option. He was obviously very frustrated when they were leaving to the point where he basically dropped the argument, saying something about, we're going to have to hope for the best for Emon, knowing that there was no way they could keep an eye on Emon, without the help of the Clasp. I honestly disagree that the reason he didn't shake the had was because he wanted everyone to concede, I think he values their opinion in a lot of cases, but him and Keyleth were really at odds, and Keyleth tends to make herself known more then most of the other party when she has an opinion. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but if I had to guess, I think this has always been the character, mad scheming and all. It was always either combat or money negotiations up until the Briarwood arch. Definitely not a show of dominace or anything close, just a joke by scanlan, because Keyleth was obviously uncomfortable with the deal.Īs far as Percy gaining power in the group, honestly I think this has always been this way, but we didn't have many times where his more social/political input would have come in. Uhhh, quick note, "Shake his hand, Keyleth" was said by Scanlan, to which Percy immediately said she didn't have to, then Scanlan made a comment about her hands being soft. Really looking forward to see how that develops for all characters involved, and great work from all the players. A cleaner conscience and mostly untainted soul has taken Percy from a tortured hero to that rich kid who expects everyone to listen to him and who wants to spend daddy's money on his weird boat airship and foxhunting dragon-slaying hobbies. ![]() he couldn't resist making the other half of the party concede the argument. Even with the disagreement from half the party, he might have gotten away with it if he was fast.īut. The thing that makes this a great character moment is that he probably could have done it! He probably could have just shook the man's hand himself, said, "OK, deal," and hustled everyone out. He's taken to it like a sheepdog standing in front of a herd for the first time suddenly everything clicks and, oh, wait, I can DO this, I was BORN for this.Īnd right away, so many schemes! We'll steal an airship and we'll weaponize the sphere AND I'll make shotgun boots AND we'll come back and build a bigger, shinier keep.Īnd riding the high of those ideas, he uses his tendency to get slotted into the serious, diplomatic situations to decide that he's going to make the big plays. Tibs left right around the time Percy stopped being a wreck and started being MUCH more willing to take charge of a situation. Everyone else seem too wrapped up in their own obsessions to make any big decisions. Vox Machina has never had one person in charge, usually it was a balance between Vax's impulsiveness, Keyleth's sense of good, and Tiberius' version of justice and propriety. We're going to do this my way, says Percy, and I'm not going to let you forget it. "Shake his hand, Keyleth," or whatever his exact words were. ![]() The debate is going to rage between the merits of Uncompromising Noble Idealism and Pragmatic Realpolitik, but everyone is so busy arguing over who was "right" that I haven't seen anyone comment on what I thought was the most interesting character moment of the night- Percy has decided he is the only adult in the room and he wants everyone to know it.
